Day of Action to Remember Nature – The Whitaker, Rossendale from 10.00 – 4.00 on Saturday 4th November

Phil is being supported by The Whittaker to develop a Day of Action and has issued a call for local artists and environmentalists to join him in creating one or more art works to Remember Nature.

A day of Action to Remember Nature will be taking place between 10.00 and 16.00 at The Whittaker Gallery in Rawtenstall, Lancashire on 4th November 2023.

On the day other activities are in development and there will be a film showing of Can I Live? by Complicite, followed by a discussion on climate change and climate justice, vegan food, tree planting and family workshops.

Phil will be working with local artist Steve Brown on the day, inviting members of the public to print directly from and to attach natural materials to a 7m long rainbow banner to be unveiled at the end of the day. Phil will also proclaim his Remember Nature Manifesto, at this, the fourth collaborative creative project he has curated since 2017. All are welcome to call in and help make a collective artwork.

Preparing the Remember Nature Banner at The Whitaker

On 4th November 2015, Auto Destructive Artist, Gustav Metzger, issued his call for action by all artists and creatives to Remember Nature. You will find a short extract from his exhortation here. Since then every two years Phil Barton has curated a collaborative and public facing Day of Action. At each he has proclaimed his Remember Nature Manifesto and will do so again at The Whitaker this year.
